From 22nd July, Trent Barton are providing brand new Optare Versa's to their rainbow 3 route which operates between Nottingham & Mansfield, prior to this change Trent Barton are proposing a number of improvements to rainbow3, and they are as follows:
-rainbow 3 will continue to run every 10 minutes between Hucknall and Nottingham.
-All buses will run to and from Mansfield providing a brand new 10 minute frequency between Sutton, Kings Mill Hospital and Mansfield.
-A new rainbow 3c route will be introduced meaning double the buses, running every 30 minutes from Coxmoor Estate to Nottingham, and also to Sutton and Mansfield.
-The new half hourly rainbow 3c will run between Sutton Junction and Sutton town centre where there are many popular retail outlets. The route will continue on to Mansfield.
-From Sutton to Mansfield the route of 3a will remain unchanged and 3b will be extended to Mansfield town centre via Kings Mill Hospital
-Most times will change from what we do at present.
So that we can make these improvements it means that we have to make changes on rainbow 3 and other services in the Ashfield area. These changes are;
-3c service will no longer run via Garth Road and Oakham Business Park, instead 3c will run to Sutton then Mansfield via King Mill Hospital.
-The Monday to Friday rush hour rainbow 3 to Hermitage Lane and Oakham Business Park will also no longer run.
-Kirkby Fields Industrial Estate will no longer be served.
-146 will no longer run and will be replaced by new rainbow 3c.
-the ninety will only run as far as Sutton and Kirkby where customers can transfer onto the frequent rainbow 3 at no extra cost. Through fares will be available.
-the ninety will no longer serve Coxmoor Estate. This will be replaced by the extra rainbow 3c. If you want to travel on the ninety to Selston and Ripley just transfer at Kirkby or Sutton – again through fares will be available.
-East Midlands Designer Outlet will no longer be served by the ninety, however the nines will continue to run to the outlet on the current route and times with through fares available from Sutton.
